500g soapnuts and 1 washbag. Enough to wash 190 loads of laundry.
Soapnuts are a fruit berry, and not a nut as the name suggests. Perhaps the name soapnut came about from the appearance of the dried berry, it looks more like a nutshell than a berry. Soapnuts are also known as soapberry, washberry, ritha, reetha or waschnusse.
Soapnuts contain saponin, a natural and effective surfactant. A surfactant is a substance that reduces the surface tension of liquids so that the liquid spreads out, this allows for easy flow throughout water and facilitates the release of dirt, oils and grime.
Each berry may contain concentrations of sapions up to 14%. The sapion is released when they come into contact with water and agitation, creating mild soap suds. They are naturally anti-fungal, antimicrobial, biodegradable and hypoallergenic. Thus making them perfect for use for nappies!
Washing machine use: Add 6-8 SoapNuts to the washbag & place inside the washing machine with your clothes.
Suitable for use in both front & top loading machines. Use warm/hot water for soiled laundry. No need to use your rinse cycle saving water and money!
Dishwasher use: Place 5-6 SoapNuts into the washbag and secure to the cutlery holder. You may add vinegar to the rinse aid dispenser for sparkling clean glasses.
